7 Days Sirimon and Chogoria routes of Mount Kenya Trek with Samburu Wildlife Safari
The Expedition Itinerary:
Day 1: Nairobi/Sirimon/Old Moses Hut), 3-4 hrs, 9km, 860m ascent
Leave Nairobi in the morning and drive to the Nanyuki Town to link up with the Mount Kenya Trekking Crew, taking about 4 hours. Proceed to Sirimon Gate (Sirimon Park Gate), 1 hr, 2440m. From the Gate, commence your hiking expedition.
Follow the track as it winds uphill though the forest. About 3½ hours from the gate the track veers right to The Old Moses Hut, 3300m for dinner and overnight. Lunch and dinner
Day 2: Old Moses to Shipton Hut 6-7hrs, 17km, 900m ascent
After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. Following one hour trekking from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North. Continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks (Nelion, Batian and Lenana). Dinner and overnight at Shipton Hut, 4200m. Full board
Day 3: Shiptons Hut /Point Lenana/Old Moses/ Nakuru National Park
You are awake early in the morning for some. We now leave the Hut at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns. The journey lasts about 3 hours arriving Mount Kenya Point Lenana (6km from Shipton Camp) at 6:30am.
Trekking to Lenana Peak at 4985m taking about 3hrs or so. Enjoy photographic session and sightseeing from the summit. After the African sunrise, descend down to Shiptons Hut for breakfast. Descend to the Old Moses Hut and link up with your Safari vehicle for the drive to the Lake Nakuru National Park.
The driving time is 4 hours. On arrival, enjoy your afternoon game viewing drives at the Lake Nakuru National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Full board

Day 4: Is spent at the Lake Nakuru National Park with Game viewing drives and overnight
Breakfast at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Enjoy the day long game viewing drives at this nice Wildlife Sanctuary, with plenty of wildlife, birds, plants and breathtaking scenery. Overnight at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Full board
Day 5: Drive from the Lake Nakuru National Park to Nairobi and Depart
Breakfast at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Take the drive to Nairobi with your packed lunches to arrive in the afternoon and are transferred to the Airport for your ongoing flight. Breakfast and lunch
