As well as Elephants and buffalo for which Loiter hills is famous, for you may also encounter less well-known species such as Columbus monkeys, impalas, and rarely seen dik dik. These wild animals are not accustomed to vehicles and walking offers a unique opportunity to see the smaller but equally fascinating life of the bush. During our walk in these areas, you will see a wealth of bird life and concentration of game.

This 6 days walking safari takes you to the south of Nairobi and North East of masai mara, whereby you will be able to see the Masai manyattas, the traditional way of living of the masai people as well as wildlife.

Itinerary For 6 Days Loita Hills Walking Safari Kenya

Day 1:  Ndarara Camp

Leave Nairobi and drive through the farmlands at the edge the Rift Valley and descend the escarpment via the viewpoint with the vehicle to Narok town. After 30 minutes drive from Narok town, disembark from the vehicle at Maji Moto then proceed to Ndarara manyatta for lunch. After lunch, 2 hours walk to the main Ndarara camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:  Letukunyi Camp

Early breakfast, and after leave Ndarara to Letukunyi; the walk will take 5-6hrs through the scattered bushes. Dinner and overnight at the Letukunyi camp.

Day 3: Morinjo Camp

After breakfast leave Letukunyi camp early in the morning for an enjoyable walk before the sun is too hot. We will pass Narosora for lunch or to buy what might be out of stock. After spending an hour or two in this modern town in Masai land, proceed to Morinjo for dinner and overnight at Morinjo campsite.

Day 4: Enkutoto camp

After breakfast, leave Morinjo. Walk through the forest; this is one of the few remaining true-forested wilderness area in East Africa. The Walk will take you 5-6 hours. Dinner and overnight at Enkutoto campsite.

Day 5: Njoroi Camp

After breakfast leave Enkutoto not too early, walk leisurely for 4-5 hours to Njoroi campsite for dinner and overnight. In this camp an excellent view of surrounding areas which include Lake Magadi, Ngong hills, Lake Natron and all the way to Tanzania boarder on a clear day.

Day 6: Depart For Nairobi

After breakfast, descend down the Escarpment and through small farms to Nguruman town for transfer back to Nairobi via Lake Magadi and the Olorgasaile prehistoric site so as to arrive in Nairobi late afternoon.

Departing Nairobi at around 0900hrs you drive to the edge of the Great Rift where you stop briefly to view this magnificent view before descending down the to the floor. You continue past Narok town and into the heart of the Loita Hills. We meet our Maasai guides who will accompany us for the next 4 ½ Days (LD)

Our 0645 hrs wake up call is followed by a cup of tea/coffee followed by full breakfast. Guided by our Maasai warriors, we hope to experience the thrill of meeting wildlife face to face within their own environment. We will also have a chance to experience the Maasai way of life in the African wilderness. We return to the camp in time for lunch followed by a siesta/read before setting off for our walk. We return to the camp just before dark. The evening is spent over dinner cooked by our expert safari cook under the stars around the campfire. (Fly Camp) (B,L,D)

Day 3 :
Ol Camp.

Continue walking through this unpolluted and natural mountain rain forest sacred to the Loita Maasai people. As we walk along with the warriors, they share their rich history and cultural back grounds with us. (BLD)

After breakfast we walk to Olopule camp for lunch. Afternoon hike up the hills for spectacular views of Mt. Kenya, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi (if it is a clear day) (B,L,D)

A short walk to Morijo where we link up with our vehicle, driving through the Rift Valley floor to be in Nairobi by afternoon. (B,L)
