  • Get sightings of eland, antelope, giraffe, wildebeest & other animals
  • Explore one of the longest “Lava Tube” caves in the world

This is an adventurous journey and a real experience for everyone. It is 2,330 meters above the sea level. People walk in a single file following a narrow path through thick forest and rocky ways. The walk starts at 6.30 am immediately after breakfast before the sun gets hot.

Drinking water and packed lunch is carried for the day. As you climb you are able to see the beautiful scenery of the area, the flow of river Ewaso Nyiro and its meandering, the beautiful and great scenery of the area, human settlements, Lake Magadi Factory.

Along the way one meets Maasai coming down ferrying milk. The escarpments are home to different indigenous trees some of which have medicinal value, the area has many springs of fresh water flowing and thousands of different bird species.

What’s amazing, the place is evergreen, quiet, so natural, cool and its air so pure. Lunch is taken at the water falls and the rest of the day is spent swimming and water chilling.

We descend back to the camp early in the evening to arrive in time for dinner and accommodation.

Expeditions Trekking and Caving Chyulu Hills

4/3-Days

Day 1: We leave Nairobi at 0800 and head south to Kibwezi, where we take a track 35kms into the hills. Another 20kms sees us at the campsite, where we walk to ‘Leviathan’, one of the world’s longest lava tube caves.

Here we spend the rest of the day exploring sink holes, lava tubes, stalagmites and stalactites, secondary water features all whilst learning how these fascinating features were formed.

In the evening, enjoy a three-course meal before retiring to your sleeping bag where you will be lulled to sleep by ‘the sounds of Africa’.

Day 2: Early morning caving or departure by road for the top of the Chyulu’s. Here we walk along the crest of undulating grasslands. Viewing herds of Eland is a common event. As are sightings of giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and sometimes even some of the ’big five’.

There are also probable views of Mt Kilimanjaro just 50kms away. Camp is made and dinner served after your walk.

Day 3: Full day of walking along the crest of the hills.

Day 4: Early morning game drive or walk before a late breakfast.

We then travel along the crest road and down the western side of the Chyulu’s for the drive back to Nairobi before nightfall.
